InactiveHi
Is there a fix for this issue please?
HDR1100s (1TB)
Machine constantly tries to boot up but fails, then gets locked in that cycle.
It boots up OK when the Hard drive is disconnected.
I’ve seen other posts saying replacing the hard drive with a new one won’t fix the issue.
So is there any fix for this issue? EG changing a capacitor etc.
Can someone point me in the direction of a relevant thread for my model. I’ve reads loads about the HDR 1000 and the Fox sat models, but can’t find a ‘how to’ for my exact unit. Any help gratefully received!
Prior to the constant booting up failures, the machine had started to tell me that the HDD was not recognised.
Thanks

ParticipantYou might want to read this thread https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/humax-hdr-1000s-not-recognising-hard-drive about using a heat gun to resuscitate faulty boxes with a heat gun. In my view the explanation of “resets the hard drive overload in the humax chip” makes no sense but for several people the heat gun does seem to have been beneficial.

Thanks very much for the prompt reply.
I had read that thread relating to the hdr 1000, i suppose i could give it a go if there are no other ways of fixing the issue!

Have you actually tested the hard drive?

I haven’t got anyway of connecting it to anything else at the moment, to test it

A USB to SATA adapter is the cheapest way of doing it; note you would need one with a 12V power supply. Something like this will do the job https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Adapter-Converter-Standard-supports/dp/B08Q3932NM/ref=sr_1_5?crid=27ORT8XL6G9GZ

InactiveJust to update this thread I tested my freesat hardrive externally and it wouldn’t boot up.
So i bought a new hard drive, installed it and formatted it and all seems good again.
Thanks for the advice and input

InactiveQuick update the replacment hard drive lasted from Jan 23 until May 24.
Then the box wouldn’t recognise the hard drive!
So i tried a heat gun on the heat sink, it cut out and then when it rebotted the box could see the hard drive and all my recordings were still there!
So the heat gun trick worked for me on the hdr1100 with a 500gb seagate drive.
