My vintage 2000T works perfectly as a tuner.

But is uncooperative as a recorder

When looking for files it will stick on “processing” after clicking on video, or get as far as the folders, but won’t open any, or open a file and then getting stuck on subfolders and won’t show the content or open any. Re-booting several timers sometimes helps, but not always.

On some occasions it will work OK.

The hard drive sounds like washing machine with the bearings gone, but it’s always been like that.

I’ve a lot of films on this and I’ve used 76% of its capacity.

I’ve also an FVP 500T, I consider it inferior as everything goes in the same file.

    Would the 2000T be repairable?

    any help would be appreciated.

It sounds to me as though it could be a hard drive problem. If it is then fitting a new hard drive would fix the problem and is fairly straightforward.

Thanks for the response, but wouldn’t I then lose all my recordings?

Depending on the state of the old hard drive, it should be possible to copy the recordings from the old drive to a new hard drive.

I seem to have had more success with accessing my recordings lately.

I now turn on the machine and let it chunter away for ten minutes or more, If it’s silent I know it will probably be stuck on channel and will want re-booting. If it sounds like a washing machine as it seems it always has, I’ll go back to it and I can usually access the recordings. I’m wondering, as I’ve used more than 75% of it’s memory if it needs this time to sort itself out, as even then, it can’t be rushed.
