Hello. Help and advice appreciated please.

My parents bought an HDR 1800T a couple of months ago. It crashes/becomes unresponsive (sometimes for days).

It works fine (all channels, records, playsback) until it crashes. I have tried basic sensible things: power, factory settings, looking for software updates (none since 2018), changing the LAN cable, plugging LAN cable directly into router – but no luck yet.

Any bright ideas? Or is this it – just old/low spec software?

    Many thanks

I can’t help with the problem, other than to say that I have an 1800T bought about six months ago and do not have this problem. I don’t think that it has crashed even once.

Perhaps it is some sort of hardware problem. I suggest they take it back to the store and exchange it or get a refund.

Great – thanks Stuart. Even that is reassuring to know. Will do the warranty process.

If someone had a washing machine that just stopped working for a couple of weeks they would be back to the retailer to either, fix it, replace it or give a refund.

For some reason if it is an electronic device people seem to accept the problem and live with it.

    Why is this?
