I have noticed that when a scheduled recording starts or ends, the Humax Aura displays a notification at the top right of the screen announcing the fact.
Is there any way to disable this feature as it is annoying?

Yes there is. Go to Settings > Record & Share > Recording Notifications and set the switch to Off.
Personally I like the notifications as it gives me reassurrance that a recording has started and finished, especially as the coloured display isn’t easy to distinguish between dim red and dim purple. But everyone to their own.
I’m the same, I like them too and find them very useful.
