Recently, the TV that is hooked up to the HDR-1100s all of a sudden goes blank, then shows “No signal”.

Occasionally the signal comes back by itself after a very short time, other times we first need to switch both TV and HDR Off/On with the remote.

Another TV, using the same satellite, stays ON, so it is not the satellite conking out.

The satellite dish and cables are new throughout the house since June 2021.

Both TVs are wall-mounted, so I can’t swap them.

Is the HDR-1100s failing, or is it the TV connected to it?

    How to check?

    Hi rbs45,

Welcome to the forum. Might sound a silly question. Have you checked the cable connections at the back of your Humax box? Although engineer may have installed, often they don’t tighten them correctly. I had to retighten mine when it was first installed.

Have a look & see if this may help + please let forum know how you get on. If there is still a problem, I would certainly contact the installer again & ask them to sort problem out. John L

Check that the F-connector is well fitted to the cable. These sort of symptoms can occur with poorly fitted connectors and heat.

Thanks, those cables are fitted perfectly.

They were the first things I checked.

I have noticed that, when you switch off the TV (LG 42PAA500 from April 2012) with its own remote, it also switches off the HDR, unusual I’d say.

The HDR remote needs both STB/Power and TV/Power to switch both off.

Your TV has HDMI-CEC switched on – SIMPLINK in LG speak.

This allows the TV to turn on and off linked devices.

The no signal problem could be linked to a programme resolution change. What is the Humax set to? I always have this set to 1080P (Avoid Auto).

Thanks, always nice to learn something new.

We ‘inherited’ this TV without manual, so I wasn’t aware of the SIMPLINK.

Just in case, all cables are connected to the wall outlet using right-angle coaxial F connectors and straight ones to the HDR.

Resolution was set to 1080i, now changed to 1080p.

Let’s wait and see how that goes.

You will be better setting to 720p,because according to the specs for the TV (42pa4500) it doesn’t support higher resolution, which most likely explains the dropouts.

    42PA4500 Features

    HD Ready 720p Plasma

    TVFreeview Built-in

    600hz Sub-Field Driving

    Razor frame design

    Picture Wizard II

    Intelligent Sensor

    Invisible Speaker (10W + 10W)Clear Voice II

I hadn’t been on the Forum since my last post, so hadn’t seen your 720p post.

Until yesterday, it all worked perfectly at 1080p.

But then out of nowhere we got 3 ‘conkouts’.

I’ll change it to 720p and hope for the best.

    Will let you know!

After various trials, it turned out that my HDMI-cable was the ‘sinner’.

I had bought the shortest possible cable (50cm), but that turned out to be a cheap Chinese knockoff.

After replacing it with a spare 6ft. ‘Amazon Basics’ HDMI cable that I had, no more ‘conkouts’, yeeeh!
