I have been a great user of Foxy software to capture programmes.I use the rear-connected USB drive for the decoding sequence, and then FTP it to my laptop from there. Then I delete it from that drive. Just recently one of the files after the transfer from the main HD said it was corrupt and unusable so I deleted it to try again. The file disappeared, but the star wheel saying it was deleting came up – and stayed with me for ever!
So I tried deleting the complete folder using the OPT key and the same thing happened. The word “Deleting” was still there after power down, even after 24 hours. So I tried a full mains power down – the file reappeared in the folder but the “Deleting” was still there. The only way I found to get rid of this was to unplug the USB drive, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. That put everything back to as it was before, so I ended up emptying everything else out of that folder and renaming it “Broken”. I successfully transferred the same file to a new folder.
Now it has happened again with two more files, so I have a second “Broken” folder.
Any ideas on how to get rid of these two useless folders?
I should clarify – I successfully transferred the same file from the Main HD to the USB one, and processed it OK with FTP.
The last time I recall this happening to me (old 9200t a good few years ago), the only thing that resolved the problem was a disc reformat.

I am slightly confused by your post; do you think the “Deleting” problem is related to the hard drive in the Humax or the USB drive? What file system is the USB drive using (FAT32, Ext3, …)?
Sorry about that! The Deleting problem is definitely related to the USB drive. But it does not seem to be a problem with the file on the Humax drive, as the same file transferred successfully to the USB on second time of trying. It seems as if the first time of transferring, it somehow managed to corrupt the file onto the USB in such a way that the Humax is now unable to delete the file (or the folder which it is in).
The second time this happened, I had two corrupt files, so they are now sitting quietly in the second Broken Folder. They too transferred successfully on the second time and have now been processed on my laptop using Foxy.
The file system is that which the Humax uses when you first connect it and format it using the Humax. It has never been plugged into a computer. The drive is not new now, it has been used for a few years without any problems, so maybe it is losing sectors and the Humax is unable to cope with this.

Hmmm, maybe I should make copies of what is on the USB drive and try a format of it.

If you have no experience with Linux then yes that would be a reasonable thing to do.
