Noticed the Aura App has been updated to version 1.1.3 yesterday:
Improvements:
– Added support for recorded content and live channels to stream to other Chromecast or DLNA rendering devices
– Added search function to recordings library
– Instant-sync for remote scheduling/recording when smart device and STB are connected to the same network
– Added playback support for videos with aspect ratio 4:3 and 16:9
– Added a guide to delete downloaded content
– Improved and tidied UI touch areas
– Automatically dismisses registration code popup on STB when the smart device is successfully paired via the app
Bug fixes:
– Fixed re-registration requirement every time the app was opened when connection is set up manually
– Clear internal memory when deleting downloaded content
– Removed PIN code prompt when playing recordings that are not marked with a locked icon
A welcome update, but there is no automatic switching between 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios whereas this is done by VLC media player. Also, there is still audio distortion on playback when transcoding is set to 5Mbps on the Aura and again this is not a problem with VLC. The app is great for searching the schedule and setting recordings, but for playback of recordings VLC media player is still better.
