My 4000T has become unusable over the last month, at first intermittently but now permanently. The issue is a lack of response to remote control signal, only responding very intermittent and was seriously overheating. Solved the overheating with a laptop cooler and at first I thought the remote was on the way out but checking it’s outputting fine. It’s as if the box is too busy to respond.

Going through the settings to try a factory reset I noticed that it’s updated itself to software version 1.03.52 but loader version 1.05. The Humax site shows the latest versions as 1.03.52 and 1.06 respectively.

Is it possible to backdate to the earlier software version?

    Thanks

Have you tried the factory reset yet? If not that would be the first thing to try. Where on the Humax site are you seeing 1.03.52? (I have been keeping an eye on https://uk.humaxdigital.com/support/?product_id=3793&curr_page=sw_release and that is still showing 1.03.51.

I would expect so but it will keep automatically updating to the latest version unless you disconnect the internet connection to the box.

I very much doubt that a software update will cause the box to overheat.

What date does the software show? If it is before the overheating you say started a month ago it cannot be the software.

The Humax site says the last update for the 4000T was 25 APR 2019.

    ### Latest Version: UKTFAE 1.03.51 ###

    Software Details

    – Software version : UKTFAE 1.03.51

    – Loader version : UKTFAE 1.05

    – Update date : 25 APR 2019

    – System id : 9010.7D31

If you really want to check I have a version from 2016.

Another thought. If it is “seriously overheating” it is “seriously faulty” and you want to worry about it getting worse and catching fire.

I would open it up and see if it is cobwebs / dust or whatever causing the problem. If it isn’t, it’s time to bin it so you can sleep easy at night.

Its the 4000T that is showing 052, build date June 2020. That’s about when the issues started so that’s why I am assuming it is this new software that is causing the issues.

The factory reset hasn’t changed the responsiveness, it’s still unusable.

Any thoughts on how to backdate to 051, is it as simple as downloading off the Humax site onto a USB as if it was an upgrade?

The box has always run warm over the tuner module (back right) but since the update it was uncomfortably so, the cooler has brought it down to a more normal temp.

It might well be time to replace it but there doesn’t seem to be many options out there. The 5000T is just the same inners with a new shell, the Panasonic UI is supposedly even worse and the Manhattan has very poor reviews.

Just for clarity, was your earlier statement “The Humax site shows the latest versions as 1.03.52 and 1.06 respectively.” incorrect?

That is certainly what I would try but as I said earlier you need to disconnect it from the Internet otherwise it will just update again.

    My 4000T is using

    – Software version : UKTFAE 1.03.51

    – Loader version : UKTFAE 1.05

    – Update date : 25 APR 2019

and checking for new software finds nothing.

I wonder if Humax is doing a “selected limited” release and updating only a few users?

I don’t think I can pull the 1.03.51 out of the box. You would need to ask Humax for a copy of it to load by USB.

According to Humax the 5000T similarly uses 1.03.51 so I have no idea where you got 1.03.52 from.

Do the players (All 4, My5 etc) work any better? They are so slow as to be unusable on 1.03.51?

Does an update happen at a specified time as it did with OTA updates – 3am? 4am?

If so connect it through a timer to power it off when the update is applied … and don’t chuck out the version on the usb stick!

Managed to backdate to standard 051 but the box is still unusable so looks like its time to work out which is the least bad option for a replacement PVR.

No idea where the 052 software came from.

    Thanks

My 5000T is on 1.03.052 dated 12 June 2020. It was installed when I did a power off/on reset a few days ago after seeing reports on another thread about the new version. It has caused me no obvious issues and seems to have improved the catchup services including My5 which has not worked for months but is now OK again.

https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/5000t-no-players-working-except-iplayer/page/5 was the thread in question.

It will have come over the Internet; it appears to be a staged roll out so not all users will have it installed yet. When I checked yesterday it wasn’t available for my box.

One final thought; I take it you have tried the age old remedy of turning the mains power to the box off for a minute?

Though, as I mentioned above, that could well install 052 again.

Left the box unp,Yggdrasil for a while and it now seems back to normal but have left disconnected from the internet to avoid any repeat issues.

A bit confused. Nothing the OP has done will have changed the software version he has. As it’s the newest why would it be installed on a box that already has it ?

Graham, I downloaded 051 onto a USB and it let me install that as an update. I’ve checked and I am back running 051 not 052. Will leave it a while before I connect back to the internet and try 052 again
