InactiveI have started using a FVP-5000T and would like to know what
auto-delete actually does?
e.g. Does the Humax automatically delete all recordings that have
been watched to completion and are say more than 3 months old?
And when does it do it, e.g. once a week 12:00 on Sundays?
Apologies if this seems a little obvious.
I saw Barry’s post that details how to switch auto-delete on.
https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/auto-delete-function#post-140
Same with the Humax manual, it details how to switch auto-delete
on but unless I’ve missed it there is no information on what it
actually does.
Thanks

ParticipantIt deletes the oldest recording when there isn’t enough space to make the next scheduled recording. You can lock recordings so they aren’t auto deleted.
You can display the list of recordings that will be the next to delete.

Thanks

You are welcome. Basically if you have plenty of free space on your HDD, you do not need to worry about this. When it’s getting full maybe have a look what recording may be deleted next.

InactiveBest practice is probably to delete everything you have watched, and are never likely to watch again, immediately. That way you do your best to keep as much free disk space as possible.

InactiveBut auto delete caters nicely for couch potatoes, the lazy and those who don’t understand ‘these things’.

InactiveYes I was looking for more useful functionality, i.e. a configurable
auto-delete so you could auto delete recordings that had been watched,
were older than a given value and were not locked, for example.
As auto delete could have worked around an issue I have…
How to delete a recorded programme after having resumed it.
Only way I can see is to jump to the recordings screen and go through
the lists to find it again, an operation that easily takes 15 button
presses on the remote. My Panasonic freeview recorder had a delete
button, so just one press required.

If you choose watch from the beginning and then quit playback aren’t you offered delete. Pretty sure my 5000T does this.
It’s something I do everyday watching channel 4-HD. If you exit playback say during the ads after the programme. Then elect to stop the recording, you can just delete it immediately.

I find the behaviour is inconsistent. I usually exit a recording by using the back button (having experimented previously and thought it gave me a slightly higher chance of getting to the delete option): I would say about 65% of the time I get to a screen where I can delete, the rest of the time I am just dumped back to live TV. This had been discussed here before and I am not alone in seeing similar behaviour. I haven’t managed to observe any obvious pattern that determines what will happen.

Press home or “On Demand” button
Press left to move across to “Recordings”.
Press down to move to “Recently Added”
Press right to move to “Continue Watching”.
Press down and right as required to get to the recording.
Press OK to select the recording.
Select option to resume or start from begining.
Then after watching I cannot see any easy way to delete the recording.
I have to go to the recordings screen either by pressing
the “Recordings” button or selecting show all recordings.
Then many button presses (often 15+) to find and delete it.
This is only going to get worse as the lists get longer.
And the simple auto-delete functionality isn’t a solution.

ParticipantI have a recording of Midlands today from yesterday, on my FVP-5000. Made From BBC1 West Midlands. I record this every day to avoid the barking dogs prompt on the HD channel.
Playing it back now. I will press stop in the ads at the end.
After pressing stop you get the attached image. To delete down once and confirm delete.
Why not use search to locate a particular recording ?

InactiveThanks for the responses.
A delete option is missing from the UI after “Continue Watching” is selected.
1. Top picks/ok/On Demand
2. Scroll across to Recordings
3. Scroll down then across to Continue Watching
See screen shot.
I will take this up with Humax support.
