In my manual it says to set up the Universal Remote Control facility I need to press the TV standby button and the OK button at the same time for 3 seconds and the button should light up. This is not working. Is it the correct instructions or have I got a faulty device?

Your post has not enough information for anyone to help.
1 Is the universal remote a humax supplied device. ?
2 If yes what Humax BOX was the Box supplied with ?
3 If it’s a Humax remote and you remove the batteries and look carefully what is the device code.
There has been different remotes supplied some of which had 3 or4 digit codes to control other kit. The manual you had with the box should have had the codes included.
If a non Humax remote consult the website of the remote control supplier.
TV standby…. Top left button on the Humax remote (not the standby button on your TV or TV remote).
OK button…
Press both simultaneously for three seconds and the button on the Humax remote will light up. Then follow the instructions to find the correct code.
