Turned my 2 month old 5000T on to find ‘NO Recording’. Schedule is there, but nothing on recordings – VANISHED!

After shutting down to standby, try turning off the power to the box for a few minutes then back on. Always worth a try when things go wrong.

Does it work for Homo Sapiens as well?

Of course it does. We do it most nights, but switch off for rather longer than ‘a few mins’.

It takes longer on the first boot of the day to re-populate the epg. (For some reason the cached NVram epg copy gets deleted during overnight housekeeping). If you are too quick you get the no recordings message. If you leave the box for 3 or 4 mins after going back to live TV the recordings list populates itself. There is no need to switch off the box or remove the power.

I use a daily timed power on/off pair of timers (BBC1-HD Volume Max) 15 mins apart to repopulate the epg every morning.

I agree with Graham but in my experience, you don’t need to wait for 3 or 4 minutes; 30 seconds to a minute could well be long enough. (I am guessing the time will vary depending on the number of stored recordings).

Great stuff in replies for which I am most grateful.

I shall sleep better knowing that my capacitors are discharging and my memory is temporarily cleansing itself ready for a fresh recall in the morning ~ better if I put the kettle on while I’m waiting for total system recovery. A fresh programme guide for the coming week will be an enormous help.

    many thanks all :-)

Lost all my recordings but thanks to the info I saw on this site – I turned off the Humax, unplugged it and left for approx 30 mins. Recordings came back when I plugged it back in.

My fvp4000t will allow you to select program to record but when trying to play back there is no recording even though the title is in the recordings window?

All of my recordings have suddenly disappeared. The drive is showing as empty.

    Total storage 1863.0GB.

    System usage 0.0GB.

    User usage 0.0GB

    Available 1863.0GB.

I’ve set it to do a HDD Test. It’s been running about an hour with the triangle going round saying “Processing…. This may take several minutes”

    Any ideas?

It just happened to me. I am used to the “No recordings” message you get when bringing it out of standby which fixes itself in 30 sec or so. I put it doen to the CPU being busy.

This one was different and neither waiting nor switching it OFF and ON worked. Pressing RECORD on the remote did not start recording the program.

What fixed it was deleting some recordings to free us space on the disk. I only had about 20 hours HD space and that seemed to be causing the problem. Once I had 40 hours HD space all was well.

If the box was reporting no recordings how did you delete recordings?

    Good point!

I had been doing many things to get it back and one was to programme a recording which started in 15 mins as that would need to use the file system. Repeated power OFF/ON wasn’t fixing it but suddenly it was working and I think it was recording the program which probably kicked the file system into life.

While it was not working I could not pause TV suggesting the box could not access the disk.
