I have a Humax 1100s which was bought 2 years ago but has not been used for about 18 months. How do I find if there have been any software updates in the time the box was not used?

A couple of times since I started using the box again it has decided just to shut down. Can I set anything to stop this happening? I remember this used to happen with a sky box if the channels had not been changed for a while. It was as if it was thinking that nobody was there and the tv had been left on by accident. Anyway I was able to change settings to keep the sky box. Can this be done with the Humax?

Also when the tv is switched off the Humax box goes off too. Can this be changed?
