InactiveOver the weekend I noticed all my recordings on my FVP-5000T had disappeared, but after a bit of googling found a suggestion to power off the Humax (by unplugging it from the mains socket), leave it 10 mins and power it back on again. That worked and all my recordings reappeared, though a few programmes scheduled for that evening weren’t recorded, even though the schedule was set up.
Now this evening the same has happened again – all recordings have disappeared. Hopefully the same remedy will work again but I’d like to know what could be causing this to happen. The unit is about 11 months old and hasn’t had any problems like this previously.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again?

ParticipantThis happens on mine if you try and display the recordings just after a boot. Going back and leaving it for 2 minutes they have always come back.
Not needed to power cycle the box.
If you have a long list of recordings it can take a while to build the recordings list.

InactiveGraham has described this nicely. I would actively discourage pulling the plug on a unit that is constantly writing to disk, which PVR’s do to provide the timeslip buffer.
I think this is a consequence of multi-threaded processes.

InactiveMy 5000 also does this, sometimes it fails to ‘wake-up’ from power timer, if I manually power on all the recordings disappear and don’t appear again no matter how long I leave it.
If you make a new recording in this state it will appear in the recordings list, but if I reboot (after new recording), all the old recordings appear but the new one I made is lost.

How do I reboot the FVP-5000T?

InactiveJust up-plug it for a few minutes.

Just up-plug it for a few minutes.
Thanks, that’s what I thought.

Just up-plug it for a few minutes.
Just to clarify, the correct way to do this is to put the box into standby, wait until the hard drive has stopped spinning and THEN remove the power. Unplugging it whilst running is likely to eventually cause file system corruption.
