My record button won’t work. When I press it the PVR button doesn’t light up. All the other buttons work. I have tried unplugging the HDR and waiting and plugging it back in but to no avail.
Thing is – I had this problem before and I fixed it but I cannot for the life of me remember how I fixed it. Can anyone help? Thank you.
The record button records the time shift buffer and the rest of the programme. For it to work you have to wait a little while after a new programme starts, for some content to be buffered. To set a recording from the epg press OK on a programme you wish to record.
Well, Graham, that’s bizarre. I have had the HDR for over two years and I’ve always set a recording on the EPG by pressing the Record button never the OK button. I have now just set a recording by pressing the OK button and hey presto the Record button has now started working for instant recording again.

Record button or pressing okay works using the EPG on my 1000s. Outside the EPG pressing the record button works too.
Yes, it’s stopped working again now. It may be that the button is just worn out.

From your first description that does sound very likely.
Is it like last time when attempting to use the ‘record’ button “the PVR button doesn’t light up”?
Surely you know the trick with a mobile phone in the camera mode to eliminate the remote.
Have you changed the batteries in the remote? When the batteries are failing some buttons work and others don’t.
