    Hi,

A quick question, soon we’re going to be having some work done in our house and the power will need to be turned off for a while. What is the best way to make sure nothing damages my new 5000t? I’m thinking of putting it into standby and then pulling the plug (in case the power gets put on and off a few times)- is that the best thing to do?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes – Even just pulling the power (as in a power cut) won’t be an issue as once the power is restored the box will wake for a short period to restart the real time clock. Even restoring the power and losing it is not likely to be an issue though it does increase the risk of a problem with switching transients. My 5000T was left connected during a major kitchen refurb suffered no problems, though of course it couldn’t record when the power was off.

I had to move a socket while my 5000T was recording just last week, apart from the curtailed recording when the ring main circuit breaker was tripped, no future recordings were affected.
