InactiveWhen I’m trying to perform other functions with my remote the pop-up “Watch in HD” keeps getting in the way and delaying or preventing me getting to where I want. Is there any way of disabling this annoying and time wasting pop-up, please?

InactiveThe only way I found to do it with my 5000T was to delete the HD version of BBC1 and rely on the SD version all the time. Doesn’t bother me with BBC2 as it was only a problem during the local news on BBC1.

InactiveThanks. An excellent left-field solution. I’ve now deleted the channels and it works beautifully.

InactiveThat is good to hear. Of course, if you need to do a full retune, or a factory reset, you will need to delete them again.

ParticipantPressing pause for a few seconds and then play should work as you are now watching a few seconds behind real time.

Yes, that is true and I used that method for a while, but I got a bit fed up with having to remember to do it every time. That is why I ditched the HD version instead.

Thanks but not in this case because I’m trying to get into text and delayed watching prevents that. Zapping the HD works perfectly.

Thanks for the warning.

With the additional software that runs along side the native software and is referred to as ‘Custom Firmware’ this can be automated. You could choose to automatically delete channels by name or by channel number or a combination of the two. It also can reinstate the recording schedule automatically after a full retune.

InactiveYou probably have a good point there Luke, because I was relating to the 5000T which I have and displays the same problem, but the thread is actually about the HDR Fox T2, which will have different features.

InactiveNot sure I understand or see the benefits to deleting the HD version of a channel?
As far as I am concerned I see not difference but do prefer the HD, if there is one.
The basic annoyance is that local news is only broadcast on SD in this area so will watch the news etc in SD just to ensure that I catch the news.
On the other hand I only set to record programs on the main channels via the HD version but to do that means I need to have the HD channel tuned in.

ParticipantYes you have to have the HD version tuned to record it. There is no local news anywhere in the UK on BBC 1 HD either on satellite or freeview.
There is only one version of BBC 1 HD for England on freesat with two lcn’s 106 and 972. Also only 1 BBC 1 HD for Wales Northern Ireland and Scotland.
973 BBC 1 Scot HD
976 BBC 1 Wales HD
978 BBC 1 NI HD
If you delete BBC 1 HD England you can still record in HD using one of the three channel numbers above.

InactiveSorry Graham, only got a 4000T which is Freeview. No regions on Freeview!
I think the only way is to just ignore it?

The advantage to deleting the HD version of BBC1 (only) is that it gets rid of the highly irritating “Watch in HD” message which pops up every few minutes if you watch in SD, even during the local news which is not even available on HD. I did find (with the 5000T at least) that pausing briefly would get rid of the message, but remembering to do that every time was almost as bad as the message itself.
