I’m at my wits end and would really appreciate any insights.

I’ve got a HDR-FOX2 and when I connect it to my Samsung TV it works fine.

I bought an ‘evolution kit’ which allows me to keep the same display but the TV hardware is now this external box instead.

Now when I try to play the same movie (or any copied across from a memory stick) the box freezes.

I’ve tried turning off all the ‘HDMI used for remote control signal’ options to no avail.

I’ve tried going via my Sony amp. Still freezes.

Unplug the evolution kit and it works again.

I’ve even bought an HDMI adaptor that doesn’t have a CEC pin to make sure it wasn’t that.

Now I’m stumped. What could be causing the Humax box to behave differently when playing content to the evolution box (http://www.samsung.com/uk/tv-accessories/evolution-kit-sek-3500/)?

Same content plays directly from a usb stick plugged into the box.

I have also found that when I turn off the humax box off and on (to fix the freeze) and don’t play content and leave it a while then it becomes unresponsive to the remote/buttons on the box. Again – only when connected to the evolution box.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.
