We have just bought another Humax satellite recorder to replace one that has wiped out all our recordings (not yet full) and that no longer records. We were advised that this was due to a faulty satacontroller. I have two satellite cables to enable recording whilst viewing. Rather annoyingly the new Humax is not recording either. Could this be a cable problem?

Can you confirm the Model please. The HB model only has one tuner the HDR two.

On Setup (and system reset) the HDR’s will confirm the number of connections they see.

When you set the programme to record – did the unit mark on the EPG as scheduled. Did the unit show a failed recording in recordings?

HDR1100sis the model. It has two satellite cable entries. Do not know what EPG is, however it did not record current program, but showed that it would record later programmes. When the later programmes became current – it did not record. It showed no failed recordings. It showed no recordings at all.

EPG Electronic Programme Guide (Guide for short).

If the programme has already started you can’t record it from the guide because the content from the beginning is lost.

If you watch a programme from the beginning for say 10 minutes and then press the record button what if anything happens ?

No, it does not record later programmes from EPG despite showing that it will. When the later programme becomes current, the recording sign disappears and ‘recordings’ shows no sign of failure to record, it shows no recordings at all.

Whilst watching a current programme it does not record either.

I have replaced my old Humax (same model) which worked well for two years – so it is not a user problem.

Can you pause a live programme?

If not it suggests a hard disk problem.

A possible solution would be to format the disk via the system menu. If not return the unit for exchange.
