InactiveHi. I have curved lines in one half of my screen when turning over a channel which fades away a few seconds after the program comes on.
It also appears on the other side of the screen when there is writing in the top corner on a HD channel.
Is this normal?

InactiveMy 4000 does exactly the same and I just accept it as another ‘quirk’
You will also see it if you adjust the volume on the box too.

More then likely a TV problem…can you provide TV details.
I have 4000/5000T connected to Sony TV and have not witnessed similar…I’ll connect one to an LG and test that later.

I have tested it on different TVs in the house and it does it on all of them. This is the second box I have received from a different store so I know it is the box.
I can upload jpg to show – what size do they need to be please?

If it’s landscape I resize width to 1200pixels (1200 height for portrait)
Nothing like that with my 5000T (It’s a Panasonic TV).

InactiveI suspect the OP is referring to the slightly darkened areas that on-screen text is placed in.

Sorry I keep getting errors when trying to upload images.
How big are they ? File can’t exceed 20MB .
Do you have any photo editing software you can use to resize image ?

InactiveThank you for being patient with me. Have tried loads of different sizes and even a 800×600 at only 425 kb still won’t load. Keeps saying (denied size).

Think it may be down to number of posts. One for Barry. You could upload a picture to a fileshare site and give us a link. In the meantime can you look at the TV setup video options. Some of the more esoteric video processing options like high colour or frame doubling etc can produce unwanted results. Try turning off any similar options one at a time to see if you can track one down.

InactiveWonder when u are back you can help advise on a brand new Humax 5000 purchased last week. For starters it seemed weird it already had recordings on the hard drive but we’ve noticed that on certain occasions when you click on settings the user interface suddenly disappears… you can only just see the settings options, when you exit the guide and all menus are only just about visible… when you reboot it fixes the issue… so we did a manufactures reset and then clicked back on settings and the same thing happened… please advise..

David.
I concur with 99.9999% certainty that you are correct.
Whenever a channel change, volume change or any access is made to settings etc, the box will show the relevant icon on a graduated overlay. This is more or less noticeable depending on the background image at the time.
What amazes me is that the OP nor the store that exchanged the unit were able to recognize or make such a simple correlation between the action and the observed effect!

Quite clearly you have been supplied with either a pre-owned unit or a new unit that contains a hdd from a returned defective machine, that has not been correctly reformatted. Simple.

Not sure what you mean by this, but I take it you were being patronising or sarcastic, either way you have made yourself look like an idiot.
There was definitely an error with the two boxes I tried. There should not not be wavy lines across a large part of my tv screen when using a Human box. This maybe acceptable to you, but not to me.
Both boxes were returned.

Can’t possibly be a HDD from another machine. If it was from another machine it’s recordings would not be usable. They are encrypted with a key unique to the machine that recorded the content.
