The upgrade is available, however
1. will it delete existing schedules?
2. will it delete exiting recordings?
3 Is it an improvement for the user?

3. Depends on what you define as improvements, there are many in the latest release.
I posted copy of release note here
As previously stated I would recommend a factory reset after any software install, this will delete recording schedule and any user adjustable settings you might have altered.
