    Hello,

on 720p , if my tv is ‘unscaled’, I get the full image of a film , but greatly reduced in size. When I select any other setting, ie go ‘full screen’, the ratio is maintained but the sides are lopped off, spoiling the effect of the picture. It is the same in all the other v formats. Compared to a dvd, the ‘full screen’ image has much smaller black bars but is ‘zoomed in’. Is there any way i can achieve the whole image that i see when on 720p ‘unscaled’, but full screen?

Sounds like these are widescreen films with an aspect ratio (typically 21:9) that does not naturally fit a normal 16:9 TV screen. So you either have the choice of seeing the whole picture but with black bars top and bottom (to be preferred) or just the centre of the picture with the edges lopped off.

Where are you getting a 720p unscaled image from ? All HD channels are 1080i and SD channels are 576i. TV’s with 720 line displays are very rare, vitually all HD Ready displays have 768 lines. Try setting the Foxsat to Auto (which outputs the native resolution and lets the TV sort it out) or to 1080i which outputs HD as is and SD upscaled to 1080i.

Thanks, setting to 1080i seems to do the trick !
