InactiveHi,
My new Humax FVP-4000T has just thrown up an annoying anomaly.
I just turned it on, but none of my saved programs are there !
Whilst I was looking at this, I was recording another program (make me an egghead). This does show up in the recorded list, however, when I try to play it, I get “cannot support this file due to invalid file format”.
All was well this morning, & obviously I have changed nothing.
As a disabled TV viewer, I rely on my TV & recording gear. My schedule has a weeks programs lined up (as was ‘make me a negghead), but it’s no good recording them, if they are “invalid file format”, & I can’t watch ‘em.
Any idea what happened please ?
kindest regards

ModeratorWelcome to our Forum

Wait until current timer has stopped recording, place unit in standby, wait a couple of minutes then try again.
If that fails put unit into standby, wait a couple of minutes, then disconnect power for 10 minutes or so, reapply power and reboot see if that fixes it.

InactiveMany thanks,
Actually I was already a member, but the system didn’t recognise me.
Thanks for your help. This anomaly really made me jump.
I ended up unplugging the power for 10 minutes, then all seems well again, except it didn’t record anything from this evening (or last night).
Is this a common fault with this kit ?
all the best

That is worrying, can you please try this out and post what happens.
Set a programme to record from the epg due to start in about 20-30 minutes. Remove the power supply from the box for around 2 minutes or so. Restore the power but do not reboot the box. Wait until your set programme should have recorded. Boot the box and check if the programme did actually record. Can you please post if the recording was made ?

ModeratorI think I know where you are going with this one Graham

I can confirm scheduled timers are recorded after a power failure.

So can I confirm this being the case, having just carried out the test Graham has outlined. R-

Thank heavens for that

It did seem to be a possible candidate for the stopped clock situation.

InactiveThanks for the added info guys.
Whilst I was reading this forum, I noticed a bit about the update. I looked at mine, and it had updated, without notification. This just might be a coincidence,,,, but it may have caused my glitch.
All is back to normal, although I guess it should be better after the update.
This is a great machine. I was a bit worried after coming from a Topfield, so it is rather limited to what it will do,,,, but what it does do is magnificent.
I have a couple of little niggles (probably a bit too pedantic),,,
1/ When I stop a playback, sometimes it gives me the choice to Delete straight away,,, sometimes it dosn’t. I have to go to the schedule to delete them.
Is there a reason for this ?
2/ Can we adjust the timing on the fast jump key ( < > back and forth) ?
No rush here,,,,,
cheers
Baz

I have experienced the same thing with mine and someone suggested that it depended if I went to a recording via the search function or not. But I hardly ever do that, so that wasn’t the answer.
Other than it being a bug which needs fixing, I can find no reason for this random behaviour.

InactiveI also get the same seemingly random behaviour when finished with a recording.
