Over the last few days, after my Humax HDR 1000S has been on most of the day playing BBC R3 (no different from usual), when I want to change to BBC1 news at 19.00 European Time, I get this message in a yellow font on my TV screen. It amounts to “Service not available”. No button on the remote does anything. I can clear this immediately by disconnecting the power from the PSU, waiting a few seconds and reconnecting. It re-opens on the TV guide screen.

Does this mean that my HDR 1000S is dying or is there a software problem? The box has a couple of inches of free space above it for cooling, and it is free space all round the sides. The piece of equipment underneath is a Meridian G02 pre-amp, which runs very cool, so is not contributing to over-heating of the Humax box.

Any help or suggestions welcome.
