Hi, I’m new to the forum but have had a 1000s and 1100s for about 18 months. They are both used frequently for streaming films from my NAS.

I have advised Humax of a bug with the new software with regard to Media Share, whereby a streamed movie with black bars cropped (ie 1920×800 rather than 1920×1080) now stretches to fill the screen rather than displaying at the correct aspect ratio. Before the update all my films displayed correctly with black bars at top and bottom where necessary.

When I revert to the December software that was released to resolve the HDCP issue, the problem goes away. However, it would seem that as soon as the box goes into standby, the software updates to the latest version again.

So my question is, is there a way to disable the software from updating while I wait for Humax to rectify the problem?

You could try disconnecting from the internet as I think the latest software is ip only at present.

Thanks REPASSAC, I guess if there isn’t an official way to disable, then that could be the way to go.

Out of interest, do you know if there will there be a point in time when the software update will stop being pushed automatically?

That’s been on the request list since at least early 2013. Principally because Freesat made such a dogs dinner of successive releases that many did not wish to update. So don’t hold your breath.

Do you not have another option for NAS streaming e.g. TV app, Chromecast etc.?

You shouldn’t need to do this but if you have an alternative then I would use it. Personally I never use my 1000s for NAS streaming as I find my Panasonic TVs app does a better job, as does Chromecast.

My Pioneer Bluray streams in the living room, so I can use that, even though it is not as convenient. I don’t have an alternative in the bedroom at present. It is frustrating when a week ago it worked perfectly well. I’m just keeping a usb stick by the box at the moment to revert when needed – it updated even with internet disconnected…
