InactiveHi,
I have a HDR 1000S and I can set up a recording (it shows on the planner), but it does not seem to actually record (i.e. it does not show after the recording has stopped). I have reset the recorder and formatted the disk (done successfully, but lost all of my old programmes
). The recorder can still detect the hard disk via the settings, but nothing I seem to do actually makes it save a recording. can anyone help. Thanks
Nick

ParticipantHi welcome to our forum.
Can you pause live TV ?
Watch a programme for 10 mins, press the instant record button (Red with a R on it). You should see a message at the top of the screen. Press recordings, most recent. Is the programme shown on the list ?
Set a recording due to start shortly from the epg using OK. Just before it’s due to start, bring up recordings, most recent. It should pop into the list. If you select and press OK and choose to play it should playback as the programme records (chasing playback).

InactiveHi – many thank!
No – that does not seem to work either. I suspect a hard disk failure, but the system detects the disk and is happy to format it!

When you select a programme in the epg you should press OK .
This won’t work if the programme has already started.
Then follow the prompts – series – one off – watch, alternate HD etc.
Boot up the box about 10 mins before a programme has started. About 5 mins after the programme has started press the record button. You should see a message on screen saying a recording has started. Bring up the recordings list, you should find a recording in progress which started when the programme did and will continue to the programme end. You can view this recording in chasing playback as you can any current recording.

Inactivetried it, didn’t do anything, I have put my other box back in now a Humax HDR which is twice as old as the HDR1000s and still works a treat, and records seamlessly. I have tried 4 different hard drives and the all show up but none will record? I am using a usb hard drive, as whilst changing the HDD I dropped the hard drive power cable and my dog decided to eat it, it was destroyed. it was recording fine using the usb drive, but it just stopped last week?? I am usingh usb 3 drives.

The only G2 Humax boxes that can record to a usb drive is the single tuner HB-1000S/HB-1100-S.
Usb recording is not and never has been possible with the HDR-1000S/HDR-1010s and HDR-1100S.
Why not replace the hard drive power cable ? . I think it may be a standard sata power cable.
this might fit
Anyone with a broken G2 box they can get the drive power cable from ?

Inactivewell I replaced the Hard drive power cable, and it was working just fine, until I tried to set a recording using the Freesat App? failed to record and deleted all of my recordings?? so I up plugged the box for around 5 minutes, re-plugged it in rebooted everything was fine, at this point I hadn’t realised that the android app could have been the cause, so I setup another recording with the app, and yes you guessed it, all my recordings have gone and it fail to record. but now I have unplugged it and done the same as before but nothing?? so I have deleted the android app, and I will restore the fireware on my Humax HDR 1000s I will let you know what happens, thanks for your help Graham.

It’s not enough to just delete the app, you have to unpair it.

Inactivethanks Graham I will make sure I do it.

InactiveUnpair the app and forget it until you have got the box working on its own. Do not introduce other things that might cloud the basic problem.

InactiveWell I unpaired the freesat I’d didn’t do anything, not seeing the hard drive, so unplugged freesat box took the top off and unplugged the hard drive sata cable. Rebooted freesat box, the plugged sata cable in, freesat box saw the hard drive, that was a week ago, all is working well, if it does stop working a reboot seems to be the answer. Thanks for the help everyone
