I’m an oldie in panic mode so please help.
I have newish 1800T.
Here’s the problem. When I press the remote switch on button the Humax won’t turn on. The red button normally turns to blue – it whirs, takes a little time but finally comes on.
This time nothing happened.
I noticed sometimes it stays on red if there’s a recording going on so I left it awhile and then unplugged all the electric sockets, waited and then replugged them
Briefly the blue light came on and momentarily the Humax icon on the screen.
But then the light turned red again.
Some advice please – is it knackered so early?

Sorry it’s a 2000T bought in May last.
How long is a while ? You need to leave it long enough for the energy stored in the power supply capacitors to discharge. Try removing the power now (as an oldie like me, it’s close to bedtime
Restore power in the morning, if it still won’t boot, time to get it replaced.
Incidentally you could try pressing zero a number of times, this normally boots a Humax box, to the default channel. That’s because 0, 00, and 000 are not valid channels.

I only unplugged it for a few minutes which I’ve done again and the same thing happened.
The blue light stayed on for about 20 seconds and then went to red again.
I did the zero thing you suggested but nothing happened – would it anyway if the box isn’t switched on or are you suggesting I do it when it comes on momentarily?
Otherwise I’ll take your advice, unplug it and try again in the morning.
It’s been a bad day technical wise .
My phone is playing up too and talktalk are hopeless!

The box uses so little power when in standby, it takes a while to discharge all the stored power. If it showed any sort of led output it must still have some energy stored in the power supply capacitors. Had you waited until there was no led activity it may have fixed the issue.
It could be the batteries in the remote getting low as I had the same thing happen to me. When you plug it back in just wait a couple of minutes then try it with remote, if it fails to come on. Then tap the power symbol on the unit itself as this will turn it on with out the remote. And also you can turn it off and change channels on the front of the unit on the 2000T. Hope this helps.

That was exactly the problem.
Funny because the remote was my first thought but because it lit up I presumed it was OK.

Oh dear not quite there yet…
The channels change as they should with the remote and the guide button works.
But when I press the media button there’s nothing there on the screen.
Could it be that I have lost everything recorded?
Phewww…all’s well again.
I turned the Humax off and on again and now I can access the programme’s via media.

I was glad it was only the remote and I could helped. I have only had my 2000T for 6 months, when about a month ago the same thing happen to me. It seems the batteries don’t last long in the remote. One way you can tell if its the batteries is to low is to watch the light on the remote, if it flickers when you press a button then they are getting low and and my not operate the unit.
