I tried to search for the program ‘QI’ but the PVR did not find it. Reading the manual (I know, desperate) I found that to search for a program you need to enter at least 3 characters. This means that the search function cannot be used for any program containing fewer characters. This seems a bit restrictive.

Am I right in thinking there is no XL edition of last week’s episode? And, for some reason, the XL edition of next week’s episode is just called QI?

That would appear to be the case, good spot.
According to Radio Times the 3rd episode of XL is being shown on 14th November BBC2 9PM. How odd.

No, strange thing is you can search for more results in apps/network server and it will return result from youtube, but not iplayer etc.
