InactiveHi all,
New here, so go easy. My Humax 1000s HDR suddenly lost all recordings and when I tried to go into settings to reformat the hdd, it says there is no hard drive and I need to attach a usb drive if I want to record etc.
I have put in a new Seagate 500 gb drive, and checked all the connections, but still not recognising it.
Any suggestions?.. As unit is out of warranty Humax don’t want to know

InactiveI just replaced the 1tb in my HDR 1010s as the last disk wouldn’t appear and this sounds like the same problem you are having – I have replaced it with exactly the same disk, it spins up but then nothing. Again unit is out of warranty. Is there something we are missing like formatting the disk externally?

InactiveI had a similar issue, this turned out to be the Sata controller on the motherboard which was faulty, Humax deemed this not economical to repair when i sent it back under warranty.
I don’t know if its just me but I’ve noticed more people reporting similar issues.

InactiveLooks like this is becoming a common fault. My HDR-1000S first came up with ‘Invalid File Format’ on the recordings yesterday, then just stopped seeing the HDD completely.
I’ve tried:
Powering it down & back up
Factory Reset.
Replace the HDD.
The STB just doesn’t see the internal SATA connection.
I then tried an external USB drive. The STB recognised it & I was able to format it. However I can’t record to it!
Any ideas what to try next. The STB is only 16 months old

Did you ever find out what the problem was?
what you describe here is just the same as what happened to my HDR 1000s.

InactiveFortunately they swapped the unit. The fault must lie on the motherboard.

InactiveYes thanks for the reply, this is looking like the problem the sata controller on the mobo or something along them lines.
Im not getting any Humax devices any more. they use to be a good quality company but they seem to just push out expensive rubbish now days. i’m going for a openbox V8s HD, cheap and fun to play around with.

InactiveI had this problem attempting to watch recordings. Fortunately, we had a power failure late at night, so I turned off all lights, and TV mains.
The following morning hey presto, problem solved!
