Hi all. I turned on my Humax box this morning from standby and it popped up with a message saying that my disk was not formatted and to press ok to go to the settings menu and format the disk. I pressed ok and it just started the format
I know that this means that all of my 700Mb of recordings are gone BUT what has happened to cause this and how can I stop it happening again?

sorry to hear that,
too late now, but if it happens again power off at mains first and switch back on. I know it’s sort of automatic to follow the on screen instructions, but formatting would be the last thing on my list of things to try first.
What a ridiculous option box, no other buttons would do anything I assumed pressing OK was going to take me to the settings menu as it implied not just nuke my disk. Anyway is this a common error?
I’m sure it pops up every now and again on this forum, either the disk not present/being-recognised or asking for a format.
I don’t think anybody can say 100% whether power cycling the box would have helped or not, the options though are extreme
It doesn’t look like an isolated problem. I think I’ll contact Humax. I’m concerned that the disk might be going, don’t want it to loose all of my new recordings.
Humax have agreed to swap the box
