Hi, I’m a new member and recently purchased a (or is it an?) HDR-1000S.

It’s a fine piece of hardware but I have a couple of queries.

As there appears to be no editing facilities (to remove adverts) I have transferred a couple of recordings (via Scart) to my Sony HXD995 DVD HDD recorder to allow me to do this. (The Sony is superb although not HD) As re-recording in this manner is very clumsy I wonder if there is a way to use the Humax as a tuner and record direct via Scart to the Sony.

This applies only to recordings I wish to archive, and not HD. As it generally means the Horror channel (not on freeview) HD is not an issue.

I tried it with the reminder option but in my absence the picture is not full screen and requires me there to make it so.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I do have a couple of issues with the Humax. The remote is awkward and the UI – well the forums tell me you all know about that! Oh, and a slow motion/frame advance would be nice.

It seems to me a PVR is a DVD HDD recorder without the DVD options. Is it just me or is it a step back? I appreciate that Freesat make the rules.

However it seems DVD recorders are becoming history and very little choice available. I just hope my Sony lasts!

Anyways I have no complaints about the picture on the Humax, it is superb. And I was delighted to find it plays from SD cards via USB adapter.
