    Hi,

Thanks for the welcome. I am new to this forum but not to Humax….

On returning home after being locked down in the Canaries for 5 months we found our Humax HDR 1010S 1tb box was totally dead – it would not turn on, no lights.no display no fan noise. It had been left in the standby mode. As the box is over 3 years old and out of warranty, I took off the lid to take a look. I found 12.13 volts was getting to the motherboard ok but operating the on/off switch did nothing. I could not find any fuses or fuse links. Any suggestions anyone.

Remove power Wait 5 mins and try again. Was the unit power surge protected?

Thanks for the fast reply. I have tried that – and waited several hours before reconnecting – but no change.

I do not have any surge protection but I have measured a steady 12.13 vdc. from the power supply.

I can’t think of anything else to try and wondered if this is a common problem as we had another 1010S fail in a similar way -and out of warranty- about 3 years ago

Can you measure what amps the power supply delivers on your multi-meter.

I have seen power puwersuples that deliver the correct voltage but not much power.

I probably could but it’s a bit fiddly. But I also have an 1100s on another tv – the power supplies are identical rated 12v 4A – so I switched power supplies. The 1010S s is still dead and the 1100S is working fine on the 1010S power supplier. So by substitution, the power supply is fine and I think the fault must be somewhere on the motherboard. There is probably not much else to do.
