I have been running the “Raydon’s Media and File Server Bundle for the Humax Foxsat-HDR” for many years.

    It is truely wonderful.

I have it linked to my NAS through the nasmount feature.

I was recording a programme when I switched off the NAS which crashed the box .

The next morning when I re-booted the Foxsat I was left with a 10hour recording (quite large).

I am keen to keep the programme however 47GB is more space than I wish to commit.

It seems that there is a program for the FOX-T2 called nicesplice.

Is there a port for the FOXSAT?

Is there an alternative method of removing the last 7-hours?

What’s the format of the file ?

    HD Encrypted

    HD Not Encrypted

    SD

Afaik no way to edit on the box but export to a PC and editing the file is certainly possible (provided the contents aren’t encrypted).

To re-import AV2HDR is required to rebuild the support files.

TSMuxerGUI will do the job of creating the smaller file.

    Graham,

    Thanks for the speedy response.

It’s HD, and I have edit capability on the pc so will try the suggested program.

Nicesplice does look brilliant, are the machines very different in terms of the software?

The fox-t2 does appear to have much more software development than the Foxsat, I assume it was just because it was less popular?

Unlike the Foxsat the T2 Freeview PVRs will play back content without the sidecar .htm and .nts files so it’s possible to merely rewrite a .ts file. I have never tried nicesplice so no idea if it also recreates the sidecar files.

I use VideoredoTVsuite to edit files (it’s brilliant at removing ads and top and tailing). There’s a trial if you want to test it on your errant recording file.

    Graham,

When I loaded the file in TSMuxerGUI it suggested that some tracks were not recognised.

    The TSMuxer output was:

    <Network Optix tsMuxeR. Version 2.6.12. http://www.networkoptix.com

    Decoding H264 stream (track 1): Profile: Main@4.0 Resolution: 1920:1080i Frame rate: 25

H.264 muxing fps is not set. Get fps from stream. Value: 25

B-pyramid level 2 detected. Shift DTS to 3 frames

    Decoding AC3 stream (track 3): Bitrate: 384Kbps Sample Rate: 48KHz Channels: 2

    Decoding MPEG-Audio stream (track 2): Bitrate: 192Kbps Sample Rate: 48KHz Channels: 2 Layer: 2

H264 bitstream changed: insert pict timing and buffering period SEI units>

    Error <..>.ts has a M2TS format.

I used the link on here (https://www.avforums.com/threads/av2hdr-v3-2-released.1916124/) to get AV2HDRv3.2 but it failed to play on the HDR.

I downloaded the version from (http://myhumax.org/blog/?page_id=166) dating back to 2011 and again it failed to play on the hdr.

Both suggest the channel is scrambled.

I am trying again but the PC I’m using is only an I3 so it takes while.

Is there an up-to-date central repository for the Foxsat software?

This was the info on nicesplice I found.

Sounds OK to me. Deselect the mpeg audio stream (It’s the audio described audio track). Select .ts as the output and set the output file location. Set the split you want from the split & cut tab and click on MUX. The resulting .ts should play OK on your PC (assuming you have the required codecs). Can you play the output .ts.

What does mediainfo say about the tsmuxer output .ts ? and ditto for the AV2HDR output .ts ?

M2TS is the container used by HD camcorders for H264/AVC content, you can ignore it and the other error as well. Only the video and ac3 tracks are required.

If it was encrypted TSmuxerGUI would not open the file.

Can you use TSmuxerGUI to extract a say a 2 minute extract to a .ts and upload it to a fileshare site so I can have a play ? It’s possible that there is a problem with AV2HDR.

I don’t think your PC is the issue.

I have never tried nicesplice so no idea if it also recreates the sidecar files.

It does (well it edits them along with the main video stream) and it can also be used directly on encrypted recordings.

I would imagine a Foxsat version is possible.. the author of nicesplice doesn’t have one though AFAIK.
