InactiveRight.
So either I am thick – or this is WAY harder than it should be….
I have a file I recorded – it’s my daughters birthday card on CBEEBIES so vital I don’t cock it up / delete it etc…
So – In windows I select the file, click copy, find the folder and paste – simples….
How on earth do I do this? How do I copy the file preferably to an external hard drive.
The file is not in a folder, it’s just on it’s own in the HDD list…
Thanks once again in advance

InactiveWhat I meant there was “In windows this is how I do it”.
How do I actually do the same thing in Humax?
And please, step by step thanks!

CBeebies channel 121 or CBeebies on the HD (high definition) channel?
If it’s the HD channel then it can be tricky.

InactiveNo I was aware of that and did it on the sd channel.
What I want is the process of how I select a file, then move it as I’ve tried every permutation I can see and can’t do it

How do I copy the file preferably to an external hard drive.
I’m not the best person to answer this as I am very used to doing this.
What I do is
(1) connect the external drive formatted in FAT32 or EXT3 or EXT2 to the Humax.
(2) On the HDR navigate to the folder via the media button
(3)Ask it to copy
OPT+ >> Move/Copy >> select drive >> optionally highlight folder >> press red button

InactiveDone that – but it won’t highlight the file – only folders – it’s not in a folder…..

InactiveThe usual difficulty with someone doing this for he first time is that they navigate INTO the folder. The red button needs to be pressed when the folder or device is FIRST highlighted and not after navigation into the folder.

Sorry, are you referring to the file you want to copy or where you want to copy it to?

InactiveWhere the file is now.
I can put it into a folder if I can work out how to move it!

Sorry, but I have no idea from that what you are doing on your HDR and therefore why it will not copy.
(1) Navigate to the recording
(2) Press OPT+ on the remote
(3) Select ‘Move/Copy’ from the pop up menu
(4) Highlight the device you want to copy it to (but DO NOT press OK)
(5) Press the red button (Or navigate to and highlight a subfolder to copy to and then press the red button)
How far are you getting to and what went wrong?

InactiveI’m not doing that for a start!!!
That makes no sense at all – but thank you, I’ll try it in a mo!
Where on earth did software writers get that from!??!
Surely, select the file, “Copy”, find the destination and “Paste” or “Move” would make sense !!!
Anyhow here is what is happening
1) Find the recording,
2)hover over it so it’s blue,
3)press OPT+,
4) Select “Move Copy”
a box opens saying “Move copy files” and the HDD or my external drive.
At this point HDD is blue selected and my ext drive isn’t and “Move” is highlighted in red at the bottom.
The moment I select the ext drive the “Move” changes to “Copy” but the red button grey’s out….
If I go to a subfolder the red button is no longer red and I can’t move it

InactiveOk – some very minimal success now – Have managed to “Select the file” and move it into a folder – so that’s an improvement.
However it still won’t allow me to move it to the ext hard disk.
Whoever wrote this particular part of the software needs shooting!

InactiveIs your external drive in NTFS format? If so the vanilla HDR-FOX can only read from, not copy to this drive.

InactiveAha, that’s an idea – however I feel I’ve moved recordings to it before.
Perhaps I haven’t – I’ll try a mem stick..

InactiveWhen you say “Vanilla” – what do you mean?
