InactiveHi all, I’ve only had my HDR-1000s for a couple of days and have returned to find that it appears to have crashed a couple of times. Both times the red standby light was on but it wouldn’t come out of standby with either the remote control or physical button. I had to unplug it both times.
Does this sound like a hardware issue or is the software just “that good”?

Thanks.

Interested in “appears to have crashed a couple of times”. The HDR-1000S (and all EEC PVRs are required to include an automatic standby feature, which, by default, will place the unit in standby after 3 hours. However both the Physical button and remote should bring the unit out of standby without the need for a power cycle.
There are several model of remote – does yours have a PVR button?

InactiveThanks for the reply. It has an STB button and TV button. I pressed the physical power button on the box, a quick and long press but neither bring it on.

InactiveAfter powering up (power cycle, if necessary) What happens if you place the unit back in standby and then use the remote to try and wake it up (STB button should light during the button press).
If nothing then you could have a faulty power supply or unit.

InactiveEarlier I power cycled the box, then I could put it into standby and wake it up from the remote no problem. I’ve just come back home and now it won’t come on again, red standby light is on but pressing the button on the box or remote doesn’t wake it.
Power cycled it again and it’s back working. Looks like it could be faulty.

Very Odd. Any recording while you were out – just out of interest.
Return the unit.

After changing the TV settings – standby cycle it.
Depending on your power up sequence you may need to standby cycle the HDR-1000S once again as well. (Did with my Philips)

InactiveWell I’ve tried all those suggestions and still the same. The only difference the power settings made was the clock is on the screen in standby but I still can’t bring it out of standby from the remote or button on the box (important note, this is only after leaving the box overnight or for a few hours).
Interestingly the clock is correct so some part of the box is still functioning.
I’ve been asked to factory reset the box now. I’ll feed back.
