I have had a FOXSAT-HDR for a considerable time and am extremely happy with it. Recently I started delving into the world of home networks and managed to connect my Blu-ray player, smart TV(in bedroom) WD Media player (another bedroom) to my desktop PC, BUT no Humax which is connected by cable. Reading the forum on the subject am I correct saying I have to download EX2FSD and additional updates of software to get my PC to recognise the HDR, or am I flogging a dead horse? Being a silver surfer my concern is trashing the whole thing and having to folk out large sums of money for a new box. The hard drive is getting full of programmes I would like to transfer to a larger hard drive.
One alternative is to connect a large USB hard drive direct to the HDR and transfer your programmes to that where they will still be available to play using the HDR (HD recordings will still be encrypted so that will be the only way to play them).
To see your Foxsat-hdr on your home network you need to install Raydons Web Interface software. It’s an extension to the standard firmware. It includes a DLNA server which will let you view unencrypted SD recordings across your network on kit with a DLNA client capability.

As Gonzo says you can connect a usb hard disk to the rear (or front) usb port to copy your existing recordings to. The drive though will need formatting ext 3 for recordings larger than 4GB (many HD recordings will be larger than 4GB)
