InactiveHi All
I’ve finally managed to copy TV programmes to USB (FAT32) and play then with VLC. The problem is there is no file info other than the title so for a TV series I don’t know which part is which. Can anyone tell me what I’ve missed?
thanks, joe

InactiveEach programme has 3 or more files containing additional programme information and position information. The one containing the data you are interested in has the extension .hmt.
VLC will not know what a .hmt is.

InactiveThanks for the tip, I’ll try to match the .hmt to the video file,
best, joe

ParticipantEasiest way to get the programme info on a PC is to use the Custom Firmware Web Interface. You can copy and paste the info.
The .hmt has the same name as the recording .ts file just has a different file extention.
If you know how to read a file you can extract the data from the .hmt.
File format can be found here

InactiveHi
thanks for the help though reading the file info will be a learning curve for me.
Though VLC seems to support .ts files they don’t play for me. Could you suggest the simplest way to play the videos (on my PC) I have transferred?
thanks again, joe

SplashLite from myrillis should play back .ts files.
Try dragging a .ts file from windows explorer to a open Windows Media Player window.
Download and install Mediainfo and open one of the files.
If you select treeview and export the file information to a text file to see what you actually have. Post the text in a post.

InactiveHi Graham
thanks, I followed the process yet when I exported the text file (carefully choosing the destination)it was not to found anywhere in the MediaInfo folder. I repeated this with the same (non) result,

You most likely forgot to click OK. I normally save them to the desktop.

The ones that don’t play aren’t by any chance HD recordings are they ?
The details of the video and audio contents are what we need to see. Does medianinfo open all of them ?
You should have something like this example (A 1080p50 Video file from my dslr)
