InactiveHi Guys,
Any ideas why I’m unable to control the volume from HD/OD/Streaming sources?
The volume bar goes up & down, but does not affect the output.
When watching SD Live or recorded sky it’s OK
I’m running the Jan update through HDMI via an amp.

ParticipantAssumimg you mean the box volume and not the amplifier volume, it will depend on the audio track type. For instance my HDR1000S connected to a Denon amp can use the box volume control to vary the MP2 audio level used on SD channels but not ac3 as used on HD channels. Basically set the volume level to be similar to a HD channel using the box remote. Thereafter use the amplifier volume control.

InactiveIf your running through an amp then I’d assume the volume is controlled via the amp and not the volume on the box.
That’s how it works via optical so it’s possible HDMI would be the same too.
Edit: or even as Graham has said

InactiveYes I’m talking about the box volume – not the amp.
I try and keep it simple for the wife:
– turn the amp on (it’s set at -30db)
– turn on the telly
– turn on the Humax box
– use the one remote for everything
I understand why streaming may not work, but why won’t recorded media via Sky in HD not work – when SD media recorded via SKY does?
OD stuff (iplayer etc) doesn’t work aswell?
I see what you are saying about the audio tracks. . . .
Obvious point is why can’t it control it?
/edit found the button
Can the volume on the remote be programmed (much like a Sky remote) – so it can control the amp volume?

ParticipantYou can set up one of the earlier remote controls that have multi kit capability to control other kit including an amplifier, but not the one supplied with a hdr1000/1010s. Same comment about your Sky recordings (HD ac3 and SD Mp2).
Basically the audio level is hard coded in an ac3 stream. You can get over the issue (but lose surround sound capability) by forcing the box to output lpcm stereo for all sources by turning off surround sound in the box TV setup options.
Alternatively a programmeable remote like a Logitech Harmony will give you the option (technically known as volume punchthrough)
