My HDR1010 frequently locks up coming out of standby (usually, but not always displaying “Starting”).

Is this a known issue or do I need to send the box back?

Hi welcome to the forum. Not an issue I recognise, I would get the box replaced. You could first try a reset to factory defaults just in case a gremlin has crept into the software.
