Hi is there anyway you can surf the net on a HDR 1000s or is there an app like a web browser which you can download for the freesat box

No web browser. You sometimes get these on Smart TV’s or game consoles (like the PS3). I wouldn’t bother though viewing a web browser on a TV is not a good experience. To make the text large enougg to read at a reasonable distance you see so little of the page content. Same applies to using a laptop with HDMI out, at least using this approach you get a proper keyboard.
