    Welcome to the Forum :-)

Members will need a little more detail before they can try and help.

    Which Humax product?

    Upgrade from what?

It’s worth adding, Barry, that I’ve lost count of the posts I’ve read on various forums on the subject of HDMI problems with the 1000S (which I boldly assume this user has bought). Humax have made an absolute dogs dinner of this simple connection, which other makers seem to get right first time.

Works perfectly well with the 4 brands of TV I have used, LG, Philips, Toshiba, Sony, all 2011 or later models – so we’ll have to agree to disagree as to who has made the ‘dogs dinner’

However until the OP provides more details……

Id say the OP is using a <free time> box myself.

It may not be a total dogs dinner, but for non tech folk or for those that don’t visit forums this issue can be quite confusing and leave them thinking the box is faulty.

I’m using a Samsung and most of the time you get no joy if the box is currently recording, which it has been posted by others as well as myself on how to get around this issue that has only been present since they added HDMI CEC control. I’ve even disabled Anynet+ on my TV, but still have issues.

Using workarounds like disabling the TVs HDMI CEC and making sure the TV is switched on and fully active on that source before the Humax is turned on shouldn’t be needed.

If rather they have an option to disable HDMI CEC from the menu on the box itself.

Same issue on the HDR t2 with my samsung as reported previously.

If it’s recording and I switch away from the hdmi source when I go back to the humax hdmi source, the negotiation fails (pic blanks out every second). I have learnt that pressing vsource renegotiates it properly, but I should not have to do this.

The humax box is the only hdmi equipped box that behaves in this odd way.

Surely the volume of people telling humax that there are hdmi issues with their various boxes over the years would result in an investigation and consumer advice note by now?

I know they are busy, but come on, we’re not making these things up are we.

Yes, agreed. I have Panasonic and Samsung TVs and all HDMI sources work perfectly with both types, other than the Humax.

I guess half of my posts refer to HDMI/HDCP handshaking issues with the Humax.

Humax does have a problem with their HDMI/HDCP implementation, none of my other hdmi equipment have the same problems.

My understanding is that Humax don’t think most customers would know their TV resolution settings and so this function is done automatically and there is no manual option to fix the resolution settings to what the savvy customer knows would work.

I’m guessing this works most times and lessens the burden on the Humax call centre as most people can’t interfere/play/tweak and get the settings wrong and need to ring up for help.

This causes problems for people like myself with equipment that works fine with every other manufacturer, but fails to work with the Humax. With no manual settings to fix the resolution we’re stuffed.

Add into the mix that sometimes the hdmi cable is faulty or not pushed in properly or the socket damaged by misuse or, very rarely, the box faulty then not being able to set the resolution makes diagnosing more difficult.

My advice to Desmondo would be to try the old foxsat again if possible to check connections, if it doesn’t work then it’s not the new box. Double check connections, switch off any CEC (bravia sync etc.) settings on the TV, try different switch on procedures, i.e. switch on TV first, wait a few seconds, switch on Humax or vice-versa.

I’m sure with a bit of fiddling you’ll be able to find a way of getting it to work. If all else fails try a factory reset and run through the initial install again

Ah, OK. In that case if the poster has read all of the contributions on this thread he will understand that HHS on the Humax is a hit and miss afair.

To be fair my impression is that ‘smart’ TV’s are taking longer to boot and much of this problem is that the TV is just not ready for the handshake.

Has anyone established when the problem occurs that the HDT-10x0S is or is not outputting HDMI? I would have thought it must be.

If it is then the problem is more with the TV not even seeing a HDMI when the source is cycled.

It’s no good, sometimes it works ,sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes Turning it off at the wall works.then it doesn’t. One time it works perfectly, we go out, we come back, boot it up in exactly the same way and it doesn’t work it’s so temperamental . You think you’ve cracked its quirky operation, and next time it fails to connect….I’m fed up with it, bored with trying to understand its problem mentality…..it’s going back…I will find a reliable make..any suggestions?…..
