InactiveHi,
just told Murdock to shove his over inflated sky and bought a 1000s Humax.
very pleased, but a bit confused.
tried to record 2 programmes, no problem. (both signals are connected and of a good quality according to the stats menu)
but then I tried changing channel….
OOps, the box told me that I cant change channel whilst recording and had to watch what i was recording.
so, is it right that if i am recording 1 channel, I can either watch another channel; or record another channel and no more?
sorry, but I know its a 2 tuner system, but so was sky and I did not have that problem.
I understand about the “watching / recording 2 channels on the same mux/transpoder thing” on sky,
but freesat wont let me watch ANYTHING else on ANY other mux if I am recording 2 cahnnels.
surely this cant be right.
your help guys would be appriciated.
Cheers

ParticipantHi welcome to the forum.
Simple rules.
Recording two channels from the same transponder any 3rd channel is viewable. Recording two channels from different transponders then any channel sharing a transponder with either recording is viewable. The channel up/down button will cycle through available channels.

Inactivethanks graham.
So just to confirm, if I ONLY use the Channel Up/Down buttons,
I can select any of the channels that are available and not use channel select via the EPG?

Correct, if you download one of the options given in the link, you will know what other channels are usable and will also be able to select these via the epg.
Just to make sure your box is working OK. Select 108 (BBC1-HD) and press record, select 109 (BBC2-HD) and press record, goto 126 (CH4-HD) and press pause. If this works box is working correctly with two cables.

InactiveOk,
tried that.
Both channels recording.
BUT, would not let me view channel 126, let alone record it.
Same error message appeared (cannot change channel whilst recording)
then I pushed channel down button and it scrolled through BBC1 HD, BBC2 HD and red button HD.
Cant quite understand the channel list, just loads of channels with colours.

Sounds like you have only 1 cable connected or you did the original install with only 1 and then added the second (in this case do a factory reset to recognise the 2nd cable).
How many cables does the box say you have at the bottom of the screen in Settings/System Information/Signal Info ?
The coloured blocks show you which channels share the same transponder.

Inactiveright,
so the info said both cables connected and receiving very good signals.
BUT, i did a re-install as you suggested, and BOOM!
all works and can view much much more channels.
Thanks very much (ear has now stopped being bent by the wife!)
