InactiveAdvise on this please, is it possible to watch a programme on say channel 1 & also at the same time record two other programmes on channels 2 & 3

ParticipantYes if the programme you want to watch is on the same Mux as either of the recording channels. If recording two from the same Mux you can watch any other channel and live pause it, you can even record the third from the buffer after one of the two recordings finishes. As all the HD channels are on 1 MUX this can be very handy

InactiveGraham,
Question, as I’m new to this, what’s a MUX?
So I get this right my exact situation is to watch a programme on BBC 1 HD, & at the same time record programmes on BBC 2 HD & More 4, will this work?
Further information is that this will be at 21:00 this Friday.
Thanks for any input

Right
, Mux is short for Multiplex. Back in the analogue days one UHF channel equalled one TV channel. Thanks to digital technology one uhf channel can carry multiple channels digitally mixed onto one uhf carrier (technically carrier frequency).Assuming you get all the digital channels then you get all the SD channels on just 5 frequencies (uhf channels) plus one for HD.
Here’s how the channels are allocated by Mux

And yes when BBC2-HD becomes a reality then yes you are correct. Currently the two BBC-HD channels are BBC1-HD and BBC-HD.
Freeview HD channels BBC1-HD, BBC-HD, ITV-HD and CH4-HD. BBC2-HD replaces BBC-HD when it launches, you can record any two and watch a third (with live pause)

InactiveGraham,
Thanks but would you please clarify something.
The combination that I want to recard/watch is
BBC1HD, on PSB3
BBC2 on PSB1
More 4 on PSB2
Would this work?

That combination would not work as your box has only got 2 tuners, and you are asking it to receive channels from 3 different muxes simultaneously.
You could however make it work by changing your combination to include BBC1 on PSB1, instead of BBC1HD on PSB3.

InactiveThanks, That is what I will do.
Out of interest, I have found that BBC 2 HD goes live at the end of March, will I have to retune my Humax at this time to get the HD programmes?

Basically just a channel name change, no retune required.

InactiveHave look through the “Users Manual”& can’t find anything on “Channel Name Change”, so will this occur automatically?
