So.. I’ve got a PC with many many films on it.. How do I set this up? The 1000 is connected to my home network via a mains networking plug which works well. Other end is Plusnet fibre optics (seperate modem & router). Any tips guys?

You need a dlna server of some description on the PC. WMP will do the job. Use the Home Humax menu to access the folders you have shared on your PC on the HDR-1000S.

I found WMP kept missing off files. For something like £3 you can get a license to run tversity. It’s excellent. Does the jpb nicely.

Be aware the 1000s isn’t so good at playing over the network.

Doesn’t like MKV with multiple video and/or audio tracks and there can be lip sync issues if you skip forward/back.

Even worse it randomly misses files when showing the file list and it’ll only display approx 1000 files although that’s more of an issue with music than video unless you’ve a huge amount of films or tv progs.

I know I’m plugging tversity again (you’d think I’m making money on this) but installed this media server because of all he issues that you raised. Since then haven’t had any problems at all. It even transcodes the media file into a different format if the humax can’t play it. There are different profiles

In the software settings. I found choosing the ‘Sony playstation 3’ profile worked brilliantly. Plays every file I have tried so far, and also my music too

    Hi dinkybluebug,

My server is on my NAS, not sure what I can install and what I can’t on that but I’ll investigate when I get time.

I do know it has very little cpu power so transcoding is out of the question.

The Humax is the only unit I have problems with. My PC and Blueray player all find 6348 music files while the Humax randomly finds between 920 and 960 and randomly misses the names for some of those.

Does yours find all your music files ?

I bought a cheap secondhand Revo for media playback, does a great job with the benefit of internet too.

tversity looks good and I like their quote “TVersity makes sure it just works!” I’m looking into all this as my PS3 has recently gone phut and the Humax might offer a solution til PS4 comes out

tversity looks good but can’t run it on my NAS, shame as I don’t want a pc running all the time.

MY HDR1000s days are probably limited unless the next update from Humax is a major step forward.
