InactiveOooooh new firmware! I’ll add this tonight

Since this is a Beta I guess it won’t be done OTA like the last one?

ModeratorNo plans to OTA this version.
If you know what you are doing, and are sure your unit is not recording then you can carry out the update from standby, no need to disconnect power to unit.

InactiveThanks. Does this address anything else, or is this purely the failed recording fix?
January 24, 2013 at 3:33 pm #41877Barry
ModeratorJust the recording fix, as per the release note and upload instructions included with the update.

InactiveWhat does OTA mean? Sorry, am I being dumb?
Should I install this, or wait for official release.

Thanks Barry.
If I install this, and a subsequent official update is released, will that OTA update still be recognised as a new update which supersedes this?

No an OTA with the same version number as the one installed will be ignored. Otherwise everyone would get continous updates
If they do make some changes before ota it will have a different version number.

OTA means Over The Air – i.e. the system can upgrade from a signal sent via the satellite so no need to copy a file from your PC to a memory stick and then try to upgrade. OTA = simple!

InactiveI installed it last night and seems to be working fine this morning. Prior to that I added 2mins padding to recordings and that also cured the problem. Thanks for all your help Graham

InactiveSo this update is a beta. How log before it is available OTA? Or through settings and firmware upgrade?
January 26, 2013 at 12:08 pm #41886Barry
ModeratorAs per post #3 there are no plans to transmit this version OTA.

I’m confused then. If it fixes a problem why wouldn’t humax make it available to everyone. It seems a big assumption to think people will read this forum and download a manual beta version.
