Hi, all. I’m new to these forums, so G’day from Downunder.

I’ve been running a MythTV HTPC setup for some years now, around which with the support of a couple of NAS boxes my home entertainment system is in good shape. However, the mythtv backend/frontend featuring 6 capture cards, is starting to get noisy, I’m worried that the power supply will fall over any day now, and the motherboard is due for an ugrade.

Before upgrading and repairing I thought I’d look at alternatives. And because I’ve been around long enough to know that the ‘alternatives’ are never as perfect as the manufacturer would have believe. Which is why I am here.
