I want to keep my Humax connected to the internet without having cables trailing 7 metres across the room. Are Powerline adaptors a realistic solution or should I be looking for another solution.

My better half would disagree
I’ll send her round with rolling pin 3 of them solved a small problem for me. Foxsat is 10M from the rest of my kit along a wall with a fireplace in the way. The kit rack has a cat 5 cable to the router and loads of kit with ethernet sockets.
Some years ago on major redecorate and before the fireplace was installed I put a load of cabling behind the skirting board but didn’y include a network cable.
A high speed network switch connects it all to the single cable. 2 of the plugs close the gap between the Foxsat and the Network switch very neatly.
The other means I have a high speed net connection anywhere there’s a power point. There’s a few wireless dead spots about.
If someone is feeling adventurous and has only a coax between two locations then they could also buy MOCA adaptors. They do high speed connectivity over coax and are very common in the US. I have yet to trial it myself, but I keep meaning to.
Very interesting Bob – not cheap.
