InactiveHello Everybody,
Whilst I’m generally very happy with my new T2, I have a problem with the sound quality. Every so often (any channel, HD or SD) when there is a silent period in transmission, there is an audible “blip” which repeats when the soundtrack returns. It also does this with recordings. Any ideas why?
Software FHTCP 1.02.28 26th May 2012.
Many thanks,
Porker

InactiveI would try your box with a different TV to try and pinpoint whether it is the box or the TV causing the “blip”.
I would put my money on the TV. Especially if you are connected via HDMI as its a digital signal that doesn’t introduce “blips”.
You could try unplugging and then re-seating the HDMI cable on both ends.
It might even be a setting on your TV for sound quality or similar.

InactiveThanks for this – I will try to borrow another TV!
I suspect you are right in your diagnosis, however, things have improved since I remade the coax connection. Still blipping, but far less often. Perhaps I need a newer / better aerial?

What is signal strength and more important signal quality?

A new aerial won’t make any difference as you have 100% quality.
Sounds like your TV has a problem with audio over hdmi. Can you try a scart cable and see if the audio problem goes away ?

InactiveI’ll try that and let you know. Thanks.

InactiveUse a scart cable all last evening with no blipping.
The TV, by the way, is a John Lewis JL26. I haven’t been able to find any relevant sound settings – is anyone aware of such?
The picture quality using the scart cable is suprisingly good! If all else fails, I’ll stick with it.

Talk to John Lewis, there may be a firmware upgrade to fix the hdmi sound issue.
