If your hdd is showing signs of failure (A common warning is your box locking up when using time shift mode) it’s probably a good idea to back up your recordings from the video folder on the Foxsat-hdr’s HDD.

These are the methods that afaik are the only way other than using a drive duplication system

Method 1

Connect a large enough USB drive formatted EXT3 to a usb port and use File Manager to copy the files to the USB drive – very slow.

This will format a usb drive EXT3 on a PC in Windows

Method 2

Install EX2FSD on a PC to allow windows to use EXT3 drives.

Remove the drive and use a sata to usb drive cradle/adaptor to connect it to your PC (If your PC has a Esata port you can of course use that). Use Windows Explorer to copy the contents of the video folder to your PC.

(ignore the two files called 0.ts and 0.nts which are the files used for timeshifting)

Install Raydons modified firmware and the included Web Interface

3A Install the tinyftp optional package on your hdr and use a ftp client on your PC to copy the files from the hdr

3B Install the Samba optional package and then map a network drive to the Foxsat HDD. Use windows explorer to copy the files.
