InactiveHello
I bought my HDR-FOX T2 just before Christmas and has worked perfectly until last night.
I was watching a programme that had been recorded a few days earlier and was about 3/4 of the way through when the screen went black and a message appeared, ” Programme scrambled or not available”. The same thing happened with all other programmes on the hard drive. When I tried it this morning, it is working fine. Any ideas what is causing this problem?
Many thanks.
Alan.

ModeratorWelcome to our Forum

Have witnessed this once, and as you have found out a power cycle corrected the issue. What caused it I am not sure as my signal etc is fine.

How frequently is this occurring? It could be that the file system is damaged which would need a format to correct (unless you are prepared to install the custom firmware).

Inactivethanks for the quick reply.
the frequency of the signal problem varies greatly
but it can happen from every few minutes to once or twice pre hour.
could you explain what custom firmware i might need to use as i would prefer not to have to format the drive.

Before going down the custom route, what are your signal strength and quality readings for:
BBC1
ITV1
ITV3
BBC1 HD
I’ve only picked 4 of the multiplexes just to give us a general idea.

As Barry suggests lets stay away from the custom firmware for now. Do you see the problem if you watch live rather than a recording?

Inactivethe doesnt seem to be a problem when watching tv through the box
as for signal strengh it is 3-4 yellow bars
and the quality it the green bar is completely full.
i have checked these readinbgs a few times over the last few hours, and from what i remember they are about the same as the day iset the box up.

No you misunderstood my request; what is the signal strength and quality reported by the Humax when watching programs live (particularly on channels where you have had problems with recordings)?

Inactivehi martin
thanks for the reply i sorry i not to sure which signal you mean if the 2 i gave above werent the ones you asked a bout.
i have been paying more attention to the errors and before the player blanks out with the channel is scrambled or not available message. it seems that the harddrive seems to go into over drive working very hard. also on some of the recorded programs the are parts missing as though there was a break in the recording.

Watch something live via the Humax. Press Menu>Settings>System>Signal Detection; tell us the strength and quality numbers. Then from the signal detection menu press the right arrow (to the right of the OK button) and tell us the list of numbers.

That sounds like a hard drive or file system problem. Assuming you are running the latest software try Menu>Settings>System>Data Storage>HDD Test should take a minute or two; tell us what it reports.

I would say the signal strength of 24% is your problem; the signal quality is fine but the low signal strength means there is very little margin to cope with interference etc. You haven’t answered my request for the channels numbers that are obtained from the signal detection screen by pressing right arrow. If you can provide a list of those and say roughly where in the country you are we can see if the low signal strength is a result of mistuning or something else.
