Just set up my new PVR-9150T to find really poor picture quality and ghosting through the new box. Is there likely to be a fix or do I need to take it back pronto? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the Forum
First things to check would be the scart cable/connection:
Are you using a decent quality fully screened scart cable (some of the cheaper ones can suffer from ‘crosstalk’)
Is it in the correct socket on the 9150.
Is it fully pushed home at both ends.
Then check that RGB is enabled on the unit.
just a thought that if the ‘ghosting’ is on the analogue TV channels rather than the 9150 then see this FAQ (link).
If it is from the 9150 then you may need to change the scart lead to a fully screened one as the ghosting could be coming from the output on the scart from the TV interfering with the input signal from the 9150 – quite a common problem which may be alleviated temporarily by tuning the TV to a channel with no video signal. (TVs often output the currently tuned channel to enable descrambling {- not relevant in the UK} or recording from the internal tuner.)

Menu> Preferences >A/V control allows a choice of CVBS, RGB and S-Video; RGB will give the best picture quality.

RGB Red Green Blue – each of the colours is sent to the screen seperately which is made of pixels. Each pixel has 3 sub pixels (RED GREEN BLUE). Because there is no colour interaction the best possible picture is created.
